Why I trained as a Therapeutic Coach
Embarking on the journey to become a therapeutic coach
Becoming a therapeutic coach was never part of some grand plan—it was actually a really personal decision. At first, I wasn’t even sure if I’d turn it into a business. I’d done a lot of coaching myself and found it so interesting and eye-opening that I thought, “Why not sign up and see where this takes me?” No big strategy, just curiosity!
My self-development journey really kicked off in 2019, but looking back, I can see that I needed it long before then. When my husband had open-heart surgery in 2017, people kept telling me how strong I was—how well I was handling everything while raising two young kids. But the truth? I wasn’t really feeling anything at all. I was too busy pushing through, ignoring the fear and grief, and just getting on with it. It was like I’d gone into survival mode, and while that worked in the short term, it took a toll on my relationships and my own well-being.
When I finally reached out for help, I couldn’t quite figure out why I felt so stuck. On paper, I had everything I could want—a great husband, two amazing kids, a job I loved—so why was I struggling so much?
That’s when I started doing the real inner work. By taking the time to look inward, to actually sit with my emotions instead of avoiding them, I began to understand myself in a whole new way. I noticed patterns in my behaviour, saw where I’d been holding myself back, and created space to feel things rather than shutting them down. That self-reflection changed everything for me.
Then came the next big shift—actually working with my emotions instead of pushing them aside. I stopped seeing them as problems to fix and instead as signs pointing me toward what I needed. That mindset shift allowed me to build stronger, more peaceful relationships with both myself and the people around me. I realised emotions aren’t roadblocks; they’re messengers.
Experiencing this transformation firsthand made me want to help others, especially women. I truly believe that every woman has an incredible inner strength and wisdom, but life—whether it’s societal expectations, past experiences, or just the daily grind—can make us forget who we really are. That’s why I’m so passionate about this work. Coaching gives people the chance to reconnect with themselves, to uncover who they truly are beneath all the noise.
And the impact? It’s huge. When one woman starts this journey, it doesn’t just change her life—it ripples out to her family, her friendships, her work, and beyond. More women stepping into their power means a more compassionate, connected, and empowered world.
For me, training as a therapeutic coach was as much about my own healing as it was about helping others. I’ve seen how powerful this work is, both in my life and in the lives of my clients, and I want every woman to have access to it. Because when we start truly understanding ourselves, everything changes—for us, and for the world around us.
